In fact, it’s because of our campaign work that you can have legal humanist wedding in Scotland! We’ve got you covered

Our ceremony promise means we provide emergency backup. If illness or unforeseen circumstances arise another celebrant from Humanist Society Scotland will provide cover for your ceremony. With over 130 celebrants, we can guarantee another professional and dedicated celebrant who will step in so that your day can go ahead as planned. You are also covered by public liability insurance for added peace of mind.

Professional and experienced celebrants

All our celebrants undertake a thorough programme of training and continuous professional development throughout their professional career with the Society, and are regularly reviewed to ensure ceremonies are delivered to our very high standards.

Only Humanist Society Scotland registered celebrants are permanently authorised to conduct legal humanist marriages in Scotland (having been awarded prescribed status by the Scottish Parliament), so you couldn’t be in safer hands for your wedding.

If you have to postpone your wedding (as happened throughout the coronavirus pandemic) and your chosen celebrant is not available on your new date, you can rest easy knowing that your booking would simply transfer to another equally qualified celebrant.

We campaign on human rights issues and have previously successfully campaigned for legal humanist marriage, and for equal marriage rights for LGBTQ+ people in Scotland. So, as well as celebrating your love in a way that’s deeply personal and meaningful if you choose one of our celebrants you are also supporting a national charity that champions human rights, equality, and freedom of belief.
