My Beliefs, My Choice
In Scotland children and young people have no right to opt themselves out of acts of religious observance at school. We call on the Scottish Government to make all religious observance in Scottish schools opt in.
Preaching is Not Teaching
Young people in Scotland are still made to take part in religious observance at school, no matter their age, maturity or personal beliefs. We need a non-confessional, secular replacement for religious worship in non-denominational Scottish schools.
Fair School Votes
In Scotland each council must reserve three seats for local religious leaders on its education committee. These seats are unelected and and generally come with voting rights. This must end.
Decriminalise Abortion Now
Bodily autonomy is a key tenet of humanism, as defined in the Amsterdam Declaration. The Scottish government must fully decriminalise abortion and introduce a modern, rights-based framework for abortion care.
Post-20 Week Abortion Care
People in Scotland should be able to access abortion care safely and securely up to the legal limit of 24 weeks. At the moment, this isn’t always happening because of a lack of surgical abortion providers and a historic culture of stigma.
LGBT+ Rights
Humanism has long been allied with LGBT+ causes, and our movements overlap significantly. We are currently campaigning to end conversion practices and reform gender recognition processes.

Humanists are passionate about protecting the environment for future generations and championing the use of science to inform Climate Change policy.
