Assisted Dying
We have long campaigned for compassionate choice at the end of life, and we are currently supporting the proposed Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) Bill. The Bill was created with our support alongside our coalition partners Dignity in Dying Scotland, and Friends at the End, and is being taken forward by Liam McArthur MSP.

Fair School Votes
In Scotland the law requires that each council reserves three seats for local church leaders on their education committee. These seats are unelected and in most areas full voting rights are conferred on the seat holders. We think this is wrong.

My Beliefs, My Choice
In Scotland children and young people have no right to opt themselves out of acts of religious observance at school. We call on the Scottish Government to make all religious observance in Scottish schools opt in.

Abortion Clinic Buffer Zones
Bodily autonomy is a key tenet of humanism and we support a woman’s right to choose an abortion, and to access abortion services without facing intimidation or harassment.

Gender Recognition Act
We support a person’s right to live as and be legally recognised as the gender that they identify with.

Environment and Climate Change
Humanists are passionate about protecting the environment for future generations and championing the use of science to inform Climate Change policy.
