Ukraine: Statement on defence of rule of law

Picture of CEO and Chair together

The declaration of war on Ukraine by the Russian Federation is devastating and horrific. We stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and those in Russia protesting against the invasion of their democratic neighbour.

These events sadly remind us of the importance in making the case for humanist values, defending democracy and the rule of law. We know humanists across Scotland and the world are working hard to promote these values both locally and on the international stage. Let us all recommit ourselves to the rejection of military aggression and the promotion of human rights.

Maggie Kinloch, Chair & Fraser Sutherland, Chief Executive

Members of Humanist Society Scotland will join the protest outside the Russian Consulate in Edinburgh on Sunday 27th February at 2pm. Members and supporters are welcome to join their humanist friends: 58 Melville St, Edinburgh EH3 7HF
