Steve Chinn appointed as next General Secretary of HSS

The Board of Trustees is delighted to be able to announce the appointment of Stephen Chinn as General Secretary to succeed John Bishop. We anticipate that Steve will take up this work later in the Summer. Leslie Mitchell, Chair of HSS said “we’re all delighted that Steve is to become our next General Secretary. His hard work and commitment to HSS have already made their mark in many areas of what we do. I hope that all our members will give Steve the support he not only needs, but deserves as he takes up this contract”.

Steve is delighted to have been offered the role – and, naturally, he knows that stepping into John’s shoes is a big challenge. But he’s looking forward to it. “In my experience” he says, “the Society’s Celebrancy – and the facts about the number of people who want Humanist ceremonies – are the key credentials we have in other areas of our work. So we must make sure all parts of the Society work together, to everyone’s benefit. Scotland has been one of Europe’s most progressive countries, and I want to help the Society to help Scotland fulfil that promise”
