Parity of Esteem Conference in Holyrood Magazine Humanist Society Scotland • May 2012 Secular education in Scotland is discussed in the latest edition of Holyrood Magazine. The article by Alex Wood was written following the Humanist Society Scotland (HSS) sponsored conference on religious education and observance in schools. In an overview of the conference Mr Woods, who also chaired the event, picks up on a number of points; including HSS’s recent research on religion in schools by YouGov. “The big issue which emerged, however, in a significant minority of primary schools, was the default assumption that, unless families stated to the contrary, all children were Christian and should participate in Christian worship.” You can read the rest of the article on the Holyrood magazine website or Alex Wood’s blog.
