Members invited to nominate Humanist of the Year Fraser Sutherland • September 2019 Members of Humanist Society Scotland are being invited to nominate for the 2019 Gordon Ross Humanist of the Year Award. The award is named in memory of the Society’s former treasurer and right-to-die campaigner Gordon Ross. This annual award recognises individuals whose efforts to promote Humanism and its values are deemed to be exceptional. Paid employees of Humanist Society Scotland or celebrants, who are considered to be beneficiaries of the society, are not normally eligible. However, if the achievement or outcome is above and beyond any current contractual obligations with Humanist Society Scotland, then such an individual may be considered. “Exceptional” would evidence several of the following criteria: The person has been proactive and influential in the pursuit of Humanist values The person has made a significant contribution to Humanism The person has achieved an exceptional outcome for Humanist aims The person has led and inspired others in legislative or societal actions in keeping with Humanist values The person espouses and evidences deeply-held Humanist values in their actions To nominate someone for the award please click here to complete the short survey form by Monday 14th October.
