Interested in helping our Education work? New schools visitor training dates…

We will be running two further school visitor course for Humanist Society Scotland members in late September / early October for potential new school visitors.

Edinburgh 27th September: Humanist Society Scotland Office

Glasgow 4th October: Albany Centre

School visitors are a key resource for the Humanist Society and provide awareness and discussion material for all pupils from Nursery to S6. Anyone who is interested in this work and is happy to present to varied school audiences, then this is the training for you. This could mean between 10 and several hundred students involving either a talk or inter-belief discussions with other representatives. Presentations can last as little as 5-10 minutes for assemblies up to 40-60 mins for discussions and debates.

School visiting officers should be willing to make direct contact with their local schools to encourage take up of the service. Tools for this area will be provided at the training.

Guidance on presentation technique, RME/ RMPS Curriculum for Excellence outcomes and experiences and key content will be covered together with an introduction to the support manual for Visiting officers.

If you wish to participate or wish further information please get in touch stating your preferred date and whether you could switch to the other option if necessary.

Please reply to Dawn@humanism.scot with details of any experience in similar situations, your home postcode and contact details and we can include you in the training event.
