Humanists at Remembrance Day Fraser Sutherland • November 2017 Humanist Society Scotland took part in Remembrance events around Scotland on Sunday 12th November, in some cases these represent the first time Scotland’s Humanist community has been asked to lay a wreath. Edinburgh Chair of Humanist Society Scotland, John Bishop, laid a wreath at the national Remembrance event at the Stone of Remembrance outside Edinburgh City Chambers. Glasgow Steve Chinn, Board Member of Humanist Society Scotland laid a wreath in the service at George Square. Humanist Chaplain at the University of Strathclyde, Jennifer Buchan, also hosted a Humanist remembrance ceremony at the University earlier in the week. Inverness Irene Gillespie and Anne Hill, two local members of Humanist Society Scotland laid a wreath on behalf of the Humanist community in the ceremony at Cavell Gardens.
