Humanists back Civil Partnership law change Fraser Sutherland • February 2020 Humanist Society Scotland gave evidence to the Scottish Parliament, backing moves to make civil partnerships available to all couples. The proposed bill would see Civil Partnerships opened up to mixed-sex couples as well as same-sex couples. https://twitter.com/SP_EHRiC/status/1233308373778563072 Commenting on the bill at Parliament yesterday, Chief Executive of Humanist Society Scotland Fraser Sutherland said: Fraser Sutherland “We are really pleased to back this bill which will close the gap in civil partnerships and bring equality to the marriage and civil partnership landscape. Over the years we have been contacted by many people who wish to mark their relationship with a legal ceremony, but for varying reasons don’t feel like marriage is their right option. This change will allow more couples the choice that meets their wishes. Humanist Society Scotland celebrants will be ready and delighted to join together mixed-sex couples in a meaningful Humanist Ceremony as soon as legally possible.” Share on: FacebookTwitterLinkedInPinterestEmail ×
