HSS express sadness at the death of Humanist Celebrant Chris Higgins

HSS Registered Celebrant Chris Higgins has died on the morning of 31st May 2016 following an illness.

A librarian by trade, Chris worked in many types of libraries, including children’s libraries, before moving to the Highlands direct from helping establish a university library in rural Africa.

As well as his work as a Humanist celebrant, Chris was also a beekeeper, and is one of only two known Millwall supporters in the Highlands and Islands. He had a keen interest in the Beatles, and celebrated his 64th birthday in Paul’s old house in Liverpool.

HSS Head of Ceremonies and Chaplaincy, Lynsey Kidd, said:

“It is with deep regret that we inform members of the death of HSS Registered Celebrant Chris Higgins. Through his work as a Celebrant, Chris helped many families celebrate the lives of their loved ones with compassion and warmth.

“Our thoughts are with Chris’ family at this difficult time.”

The funeral ceremony for Chris Higgins will take place on Friday 10th June at 10.00am in Dochgarroch Village Hall to which all friends are respectfully invited. Thereafter Inverness Crematorium for a private cremation for family members only at 11.00am.
