First non-religious pastoral support volunteers trained

We are delighted that Humanist Society volunteers are the first and only Pastoral Support Volunteers to be trained and accredited by the Non-Religious Pastoral Support Network. Our volunteers will be providing pastoral care, including as Humanist Chaplains at a range of establishments across Scotland.

We believe Humanists and all those who are non-religious should have access to pastoral support at life’s important and often challenging times. It is important that support is provided by individuals who are properly trained and supported.

Thanks to our friends at Humanists UK for fabulous training and a huge congratulations to trainer Lindsey Van Dijk who was recently appointed as Lead Chaplain for Buckinghamshire NHS Trust; the first Humanist to lead a Chaplaincy team in the NHS.
