Getting married in Scotland

So you want to elope? Would you love to have your legal, destination Humanist wedding in Scotland?

We love marrying couples from all over the world.

Quite often one of the first things we get asked is ‘Can we have a legal Humanist wedding in Scotland?’

And the answer is … YES!

You can get married anywhere in Scotland (as long as it is safe and dignified). We do weddings on mountains in the Scottish Highlands, by beautiful Lochs and many more beautiful locations in Stirling, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow… in fact all over Scotland!

We have married couples on the top of mountains, by beautiful lochs, forests and glens, in wonderful castles and historic venues and many more. You can find some great examples of historic Scottish venues here

To have a legal wedding in Scotland you are required to have 2 witnesses with you, who must be over 16. If you are coming alone your photographer, videographer, musicians or venue staff may be able to step in. If you don’t have anyone to ask have a chat with your Celebrant who should be able to help with suggestions.

More of the legal information on how to get married in Scotland is available on the National Records of Scotland site.

There are also lots of Scottish traditions you can have as part of your ceremony – you can see more wedding ideas here.
