Naming Poems, Readings and Music

Choosing music for your child’s naming ceremony is another way to make it personal and unique to you and your family. Although you don’t have to have music, families often choose one piece for the start, one for the end and one as background music if you are signing a certificate or during a symbolic gesture such as making hand/foot prints. Aside from it being non-religious, it’s entirely up to you what suits your tastes and there are lots of lovely child friendly choices – you can even choose one of their favourite songs!

Naming poems and readings are a lovely way to involve guests in your ceremony. Equally, your celebrant can read them for you. Again, these are not necessary to make your naming ceremony personal and meaningful, it’s all about your choice. There are lots of lovely non-religious poems and readings and sometimes speakers even write their own!
