Guide parents

Like all of our ceremonies, Naming and Welcoming Ceremonies are inclusive and you can incorporate whoever you like, however you like. A lovely part of many naming ceremonies is the appointment of guide parents – the non-religious equivalent of ‘godparents’. Many families choose ‘guide parents’ who make special promises to your child or children to say that they will play an important role in their lives, and help support them as they grow up.

This is a lovely opportunity to involve people who are special to you as part of the ceremony. These can be friends or family, whoever you would like. You can also involve younger children as ‘guide buddies’ so that they have a special role too.
