It’s easier than ever to find stationery that’s printed on recycled paper or uses alternative materials, such as vegetable inks. Seed paper is a biodegradable material that sprouts into flowers when planted in a pot of soil.

You could go even further and keep printed invitations and other stationery to a minimum by emailing invites or directing guests to a website, which can double as a wedding planning tool. It can also host information on accommodation, travel and your wedding list or chosen charities to donate to.

Reusable chalkboards could be used for any ‘order of service’ or table plans you may want for the day itself.

If you do opt for the conventional route, bear in mind that some wedding stationers might source and print their ranges in other parts of the world where labour conditions may not be considered ethical.
