Afternoon School Visitor Training (Edinburgh)

Being an HSS School Visitor is a great way to get more involved, and help to educate young people about humanism. This half-day training course will enable you to join our network of trained school visitors.

Being an HSS School Visitor is a fun and rewarding activity. We already have a well-established network throughout Scotland, and as these become more popular we are delighted to offer this oppourtunity to expand the network.

The half-day's training will cover the basics, such as:

  • Why and when should HSS members go into schools?
  • What types of activity should HSS School Visitors take part in?
  • What things should you keep in mind when speaking to large groups?
  • What things should you keep in mind when speaking to smaller groups?
  • Introduction to the Curriculum for Excellence
  • Safeguarding and child protection

We will also discuss and explore Humanist perspectives on:

  • Origins and evolution
  • Beliefs and Values
  • Relationships
  • Environment
  • End of Life
  • Human rights

You will also be issued with an HSS School Visitor Handbook.

All HSS school visitors should be paid-up members of the Society, or prepared to become a member during the training.

Registration is required, please register using the links above and below.
