The Power of Asking for Evidence (Glasgow & Online)

Date: Sunday 10th August   /   Time: 1:00pm - 3:00pm

“The Power of Asking for Evidence” – Sense About Science

With guest speaker Dr Sameh ElBadry.

A hybrid event with the option of joining in person at Garnethill Multicultural Centre or online.

Expect a thought-provoking afternoon touching on the subjects of truth, data and public accountability.

In a world of blue ticks, bold claims and AI-driven spin, how do we know what to trust? Dr ElBadry from Sense About Science will explore how ordinary people, without expert training, can ask the right questions of politicians, companies, and media. Discover how holding decision-makers to account starts with one simple act: asking for evidence.

Whether you’re keen to connect with others over tea and discussion at Garnethill or prefer to join us from home, don’t miss this unique event! The online meeting link will be shared closer to the event on Meetup.

About the Speaker:

Dr Sameh ElBadry is a Project Officer at Sense about Science, where he supports global initiatives on responsible AI and effective risk communication. He recently completed a PhD at the University of Sheffield, researching genetic mechanisms behind chemoresistance in kidney cancer. Sameh has presented his work internationally and brings a deep commitment to evidence-based thinking and public understanding of science.
