Join Dumfries Humanists at the Robert Burns Centre Film Theatre, Dumfries, for a screening of the documentary film Much Ado About Dying, released in the UK in 2024 to critical acclaim. This bittersweet documentary from Simon Chambers looks at what happens as someone approaches the end of their life: in this case, Simon’s elderly, Shakespeare-loving uncle, a retired actor who calls Simon with a message of doom, “come back to London, I think I may be dying.”
This special screening for World Humanist Day is presented in partnership with Glasgow University’s End of Life Studies programme. Representatives from the programme will be at the event to discuss diverse cultural beliefs around death and consider global attempts to improve end-of-life care.
This event is supported by Humanist Society Scotland’s World Humanist Day Small Grants Scheme.
