Pharmanomics. Is the pharmaceutical industry failing us? (online)

Date: Monday 2nd September   /   Time: 7:30pm - 9:00pm

Based on his book “Pharmanomics”, Nick Dearden explores the ways that the global pharmaceutical industry (“Big Pharma”) is failing us. He uses examples such as the behaviour in developing and selling Covid vaccines, the marketing of highly addictive OxyContin and hiking the price of a lifesaving drug HIV/AIDS. This is a consequence of being more interested in profit than health. However, be offers a pathway to a fairer, safer system for all.

Nick is the Director of Global Justice Now. He has been a campaigner against corporate globalisation and for global economic justice for over twenty years, working with War on Want, Amnesty International and the Jubilee Debt Campaign.

In this portrait photo Nick Dearden has short hair, and wears glasses, and an open necked shirt.
