Celebrate World Humanist Day with a Walk in Fairy Glen (Rosemarkie)

Date: Sunday 21st June   /   Time: 10:45am - 1:00pm

An informal morning walk arranged by a local member, followed by optional coffee and food at the Crofters Cafe. Join the walk, coffee, or both on Sunday 21st June.

The Fairy Glen at Rosemarkie is a magical little woodland walk on the Black Isle, just a stone’s throw from Inverness. The glen’s name stems from a local legend where village children were said to have placed flowers and coins (“money trees”) into pools to appease fairies and ensure clean water.

As humanists we don’t need to appease any fairies, and we know of more effective scientifically proven methods of ensuring clean water. But we do still appreciate a good story, and enjoy being out in nature! You might see woodland birds such as dippers, song thrushes, bullfinches, long‑tailed tits, and buzzards.

Details:

Meet at 10:45 am at Rosemarkie car park (what3words location ///clapper.golden.pouch), to the side of The Plough with the public toilets.

Set off at 11am on the Fairy Glen walk. This is child and dog friendly but there are roots and uneven paths so not really buggy or wheelchair friendly unfortunately.

Optionally followed by coffee:at Crofters Café. This is both buggy and wheelchair friendly, and any non-walkers are welcome to join just for coffee. They also have a pizza oven, and a garden.

There is no cost to join the walk, and any food and drinks can be purchased directly from Crofters Cafe.

Please be sure to read the risk assessment which will be emailed to you nearer the time before joining the walk.  All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult, and participation is at your own risk.

This get together is facilitated by Janet, a local group volunteer.
