The Ecology Centre is situated in a lovely peaceful setting on the banks of Kinghorn Loch. We will meet in the the on-site cafe, Nest Cafe at 2.30 pm for a chat and refreshments, with the tour starting at 3.30pm once the cafe has closed, and expected to finish between 4pm and 4.15pm.
The Ecology Centre is a charity committed to helping to change the environment and our community for the better. They have opportunities for volunteers to be involved and gain new skills and meet people. Their Toolshed Workshops refurbish old tools and sewing machines and the Restoration Project is a multi year project aiming to re-establish native habitats within the Firth of Forth. The education programme works with schools and children.
The Centre and cafe open at 10 am for those who would wish to come earlier and enjoy some of the longer walk, including the popular walk to the Binn. There are also lovely walks at the Loch which suit all abilities though for wheelchairs some are a bit bumpy.
A short walk from the Centre is the Greenheart Growers garden and Farmshop. The shop is open till 5 but the garden closes at 3pm. Greenheart Growers is a Community interest company and Market garden which works with the local community and members to pass on skills, knowledge, confidence and practical experience in growing and supplying organically grown fresh produce.
Join us in the afternoon, or come early and make a day of it, adding walks and gardens into the mix!
