A Place to Live, a Space to Thrive: How Harmeny supports Children and Young People (online talk)

Date: Monday 3rd February   /   Time: 7:30pm - 9:00pm

Harmeny Education Trust supports children and young people to manage childhood trauma, build life skills, and unlock their potential. Learn how at an online meeting with guest speaker Alison Acosta, Fundraising and Communications Manager at Harmeny.

Harmeny Education Trust is a Scottish charity based in Balerno which provides care and education for young people impacted by early years trauma. In this talk, Alison will cover the impact of early years trauma on childhood development and emotional regulation. She will explain how Harmeny has developed its approach to learning and care and how it helps children manage their trauma and thrive. The talk will also touch on Scotland’s national commitment to children in care through The Promise, a project to support young people based on the findings of the Independent Care Review, which was launched in February 2020.

This meeting will be chaired by Jim Chalmers of Edinburgh Humanists.
