Support our Judicial Review campaign fund

We need your support to help us challenge an unlawful decision by the Scottish Government.

We are taking legal action to ensure that young people in Scotland have the right to opt-out of religious observance, the same as young people in England and Wales.

The Scottish Government have acted unlawfully, and as Scotland’s Humanist Charity it’s our duty to raise this issue (read more about it here).

But we need your help.

This legal action is likely to cost us between £6,000 and £30,000. Since we do not receive any Government funding, we’re relying on you to help us.

By selecting 'Yes' above you are confirming that

  1. You would like Humanist Society Scotland to treat all donations that you have made in the past 4 years and all donations that you make from the date of this declaration as Gift Aid donations.
  2. You are a UK taxpayer.

About Gift Aid

You must pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax in each tax year (6th April to 5th April) at least equal to the tax that all the charities or Community Amateur Sports Clubs that you donate to will reclaim on your donations for that tax year (25p on every £1 you give).

Please notify us if you no longer pay sufficient tax, want to cancel this declaration, or change your name or home address. If you pay a higher tax rate, you can claim further tax relief in your Self Assessment tax return.
