Secure Your Date

Know your wedding date? Know you're covered

Your humanist celebrant will involve you in planning and writing your ceremony, creating a ceremony that’s a true reflection of you and your partner. Humanist weddings and civil partnerships are legal in Scotland, and we are the only Scottish humanist organisation permanently authorised to conduct humanist ceremonies in Scotland.

Personalising your ceremony

Humanist ceremonies can be held pretty much anywhere, inside or outside. Your ceremony can be as simple or as intricate as you like, and you can break with tradition, or include as many traditional elements as you choose. Readings, music, and ring exchanges can be combined with symbolic gestures and contributions from friends and family, for a ceremony that reflects your relationship and your life.

How much does it cost?

You can expect to pay around £470 for your ceremony. This fee covers the cost of your celebrant and your two-year membership of Humanist Society Scotland. Other fees such as travel expenses and rehearsal fees should be agreed directly with your celebrant.

Secure your date with a membership payment of £85. The balance is paid once you have confirmed your celebrant.

If you would like us to allocate you a celebrant, the fee will be £470 and include the celebrant fee, membership, an initial meeting, and ceremony-related expenses. Please note that this option is not available for weddings in remote and Island locations.
