Wedding & Civil Partnership, Naming & Welcoming and Funeral Ceremonies

I live in Lochwinnoch with my wife and our dog and cats. Throughout my working life, which has been in theatre and Higher Education, I have been deeply committed to Equality and Diversity work. I aspire always to see a fairer and more secular society. At the heart of that aspiration, are people. A world in which we are all respected and given fair opportunity sounds right to me.

I'm a very experienced celebrant, but before I began this work i was already a very experienced public speaker and creative writer. In addition, I love doing pretty much anything which involves people, travelling and enjoying life.

Wedding & Civil Partnership Ceremonies

A Humanist civil partnership or wedding ceremony is personal and unique. It is such a privilege to work with a couple to really bring their love story to life in their ceremony, to capture just the right tone for these two people and to ensure that they make their commitment to each other in the way that they want to make it. My job is such a joy! In a world where love is ever more important, I aim to bring professional and warm guidance to every couple with whom I work, and to do my very best to give them a day to remember. I'm a theatre director and teacher too, so I am by nature playful and creative; I have found that is hugely useful when helping a couple to design their marriage ceremony!

Naming & Welcoming Ceremonies

I am thrilled to be able to do naming and welcoming work! Since I was 8 I have been an aunt! I have 15 nephews and nieces and I have 30 great-nieces and great-nephews! I love children and so doing naming and welcoming ceremonies is a total joy for me! Of course, it isn't only children who want to be named or welcomed; there is equal joy in naming and welcoming adults too. How we identify and our name are inextricably bound together and the honour of helping to unite these for adults is major. As a drama teacher and theatre director I am by nature playful and enjoy the fun as well as the gravitas of these ceremonies. I can help you be as creative as possible in designing the ceremony and I can work with you on ensuring the details are all as you would wish.

Funeral Ceremonies

As a funeral celebrant I work to ensure that I compose and deliver the ceremony that you truly wish for your loved one. I have a passion for the work and will work with you every step of the way, listening, responding and guiding you. In what is a difficult time for your family, I aim to be a reliable, compassionate and friendly person who makes you feel confident that your loved ones funeral will be what you wish it to be.
