Ceremonies performed: Weddings, Naming Ceremonies

Hello! Hiya! Thanks for stopping by my profile!

My name is Katie. I'm originally an Ayrshire lassie now in the Dear Green Place - Glasgow.

My background is in working with children and young people who ...

One of the most rewarding parts of this is meeting new people and learning about their story - I am very lucky that being a Celebrant allows me to do that too.

Hearing stories about how people met and how their families have grown and turning that into a meaningful and personal ceremony - It's the best thing ever.

(Every report card I've had in my life has had some version of 'talkative' on there and it's fair to say the teachers of Mauchline Primary had me sussed as a people person, early doors.)

I also knew from a young age that religious belief was not for me.

I discovered humanism as a student. I was researching food banks and street kitchens , looking to volunteer somewhere that did not have a tied religious message . I was amazed how closely the values of Humanism mirrored how I felt about life. So, after doing voluntary work with the Humanist Society Scotland in Glasgow and marrying my husband in a Humanist Wedding Ceremony , I decided that being a celebrant was something I wanted to do too!

I would say that Humanism is a view of the world that is inspired by compassion and kindness, led by reason and based on the idea that there is more that unites us, than divides us.

We have one life , let's make it really count.

It is an absolute joy, an honour and a pleasure to be able to work with families to create ceremonies for their most important days. I love it.

A wee bit about me:

Twin Mum/Twin Referee to Andrew and Keir. Friendly bletherer. Lover of Scottish Poetry and Literature. Tunnocks Tea Cake Appreciator.

Loves: Books. Good coffee. Disco. Vintage and Kitsch stuff.

Loathes: Black olives. Being late. Warm wine. Sensible shoes.

I try to bring warmth, emotion, humour and enthusiasm to every ceremony. If that sounds like what you might be looking for , give me a wee call or drop me an email and we can get planning!

When not delivering lovely ceremonies I can usually be found running after two small people or convincing my husband about the next job I've decided he has to do.

Hope to meet you soon! Have a lovely day!

Wedding & Civil Partnership Ceremonies

A wedding is both the beginning of something new and the celebration of your journey so far as a couple. My approach is that it's your day and you should have it your way!

In Scotland , the legal 'bits' you ha...

You're the boss!

So, if you want to get married in your own kitchen on a Tuesday - lets do it! Walk yourself down the aisle. Have your Page Boys cannon ball run down the aisle in kilts. Bring your character and personalities as a couple into the process and it makes it so special -I love it! Oh and I always agree that couples retain the 'editing' rights to anything I say in the ceremony, so if you decide you'd rather not tell that story from your Hen Do in front of your Gran after all, we change it!

Whether your wedding is going to be a big gathering of lovely people or a romantic and top secret elopement, we will incorporate the traditions that feel right for you.

A Humanist wedding ceremony is made up of lots of little threads that weave together. From the readings or poems you might choose, the symbolic gestures you include and the vows you make. I will be by your side to help guide you and bring it all together.

In Scotland we are very lucky to have stunning scenery and world class venues that can really make your celebration special. Adding in words and emotion that truly reflect how you feel about each other, well it makes it fabulous.

I am based in sunny Glasgow but available to conduct ceremonies throughout Scotland. Please do get in touch for a chat about your big day and we can start planning the perfect celebration.
