We say goodbye to CEO Fraser Sutherland and welcome Janine Hunt as Interim CEO

May 5, 2026

We are sad to announce that Fraser Sutherland has left his role as CEO, but delighted to introduce Janine Hunt, our new Interim CEO.

We are sad to announce that Fraser Sutherland has left his role as Chief Executive Officer of Humanist Society Scotland. We are very grateful to Fraser for the work he has done during his time with Humanist Society, and we wish him all the very best with whatever comes next.

However, we are delighted to announce that Janine Hunt has joined us as Interim CEO. Janine brings a wealth of experience in charity sector management, policy, and governance. We are thrilled to have her with Humanist Society as the recruitment process begins for the organisation’s new, permanent CEO.

Janine writes:

“I am thrilled to be interim CEO of Humanist Society Scotland. I am delighted to lead a team committed to respect, equality and human rights. We will be listening, learning with our partners and communities to turn bold ideas into practical action that defends dignity and builds a sense of belonging across Scotland.”

We are sure you will join us in offering Janine a very warm welcome to our team and community.
