Use our new letter template to write to your incoming MP on humanist issues

July 24, 2024

The enormous intake of new MPs at Westminster gives humanists the chance to press their representatives on the key issues for our movement. Use our new letter template to do so.

The Labour Party won a landslide victory in the recent UK General Election. The scale of this win gives them a clear mandate to push for bolder change on secular and progressive causes. This is also the least religious parliament ever. A record 40% of incoming MPs choosing a secular rather than religious swearing-in oath.

You can play your part in helping us ensure this parliament stands for meaningful change on humanist causes, not just gestures. Using the link below, you’ll find an adaptable letter template that allows you to write to your MPs asking them where they stand on six crucial points. These cover religious privilege, human rights, legalising assisted dying, the climate crisis, and more.

With 51.1% of people in Scotland now saying they have no religion, humanist values of reason, dignity, and compassion are more relevant to policymakers than ever before. Let’s call on our new parliament to help deliver a more secular, humane and compassionate society.
