We launch our general election 2024 resources

June 17, 2024

We’ve created a DIY election kit that our members and supporters can use to campaign on humanist causes ahead of the 2024 general election.

At Humanist Society Scotland we want to see a more ethical, rational, and socially just Scotland. Much of our work focuses on pressing for change at Holyrood. But decisions taken by the UK government have a huge impact on Scottish society. That’s why we wrote to parties standing in Scotland this month asking them for their positions on key humanist issues.

Now, we’re launching a DIY election kit and resources that our members and supporters can use to make noise on humanist causes. The kit includes a template letter to parliamentary candidates asking them where they stand on humanist issues, as well as social media graphics and posts.

Ahead of July 4, we’re focusing on five themes:

Our CEO Fraser Sutherland said:

“This is a pivotal election for Scotland just as it is for the rest of the UK. The need for humanist voices in Westminster has never been more urgent, on issues ranging from the future of democracy to the climate crisis. We want to empower humanists and allies across our country to take charge of the discussion and press for change directly. That’s why we’ve created this set of resources you can use to make noise on humanist causes, ask tough questions of your candidates at hustings or on the doorstep, and spread the humanist message on social media.”
