Holyrood’s health committee wants to hear from you on Liam McArthur’s Assisted Dying Bill

June 7, 2024

MSPs on the Health, Social Care, and Sport Committee have begun scrutinising the Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) Bill. If it passes into law, this bill will give people the autonomy, dignity, and control they deserve at the end of life. As part of this work, the committee is running a “call for views” where they ask stakeholder organisations and the general public to give their opinion on the bill.

We are asking all of our members and supporters to respond and tell the committee why terminally ill adults should be given the choice of an assisted death. Your responses will inform the committee’s scrutiny of the Bill as it makes its way through parliament. It’s crucial that everyone who supports compassionate assisted dying laws makes their voice heard.

The committee is asking a series of questions relating to the bill. There is a short survey and a longer more detailed survey. We would encourage you to answer as many questions as you have time for. Use your own words and experiences where possible. If you are unsure about how to answer any of the questions, we will soon publish more information on how we plan to respond and suggestions for what you can say.

You can find the call for views here on the Scottish Parliament website. You can also use our letter template below to write to your MSP.
