We meet religious groups to discuss importance of dialogue

November 17, 2016

Representatives from Humanist Society Scotland have had a positive meeting with representatives from Interfaith Scotland, Interfaith Glasgow and other faith leaders to discuss the importance of dialogue.

At a meeting last night (16 November) staff and Trustees from HSS met with interfaith representatives to talk about areas of shared concern, and also to help raise awareness of differences.

For the last three years Humanist representatives have taken part in an annual conference with religious representatives to help understand and explore areas of agreement and disagreement.

As part of the Scottish Interfaith Week, HSS was pleased to attend an informal dinner hosted by Interfaith Scotland in Glasgow. Gordon MacRae, HSS Chief Executive and Interfaith Scotland Director Maureen Seir both gave short presentations on the theme of ‘who we are, and why we do it (dialogue)’.

Although HSS is not a formal part of the Interfaith Scotland network, it remains commented to pursuing dialogue with other civic groups, and faith and belief bodies.
