Last month HSS hosted a celebration event, reflecting on 10 years since humanist marriage in Scotland became legal. Below is a selection of happy couple who have enjoyed legal humanist weddings since 2005!
Mark Haseley and Alison Alardice married on Christmas Day 2011. Mark is currently working in New Zealand, therefore they couple keep in touch via Skype!
Andrew and Angela McAndrew celebrated their love with a humanist ceremony in 2006.
Peter and Joan Allan married in 2010, after attending the same school their lives took separate paths until they re-united nearly 50 years later!
David and Laura Faulkner were married in 2009 with a humanist ceremony.
Stuart and Sharon Nichol had a wonderful humanist ceremony in 2013.
Joe Schofield and Malx Brown were the first couple to have a legal humanists same-sex marriage in Scotland, back in Hogmannay 2014!
Laura-Jane and Alistair Bell had a spectacular humanist wedding in 2011.
Karen Watts and Martin reijns were the first couple to have a legal humanist wedding in Scotland, back in 2005. They are still happily married, living in Edinburgh.
Paul and Karen Stewart met through a mutual friend, they fell in love and had a romantic humanist wedding on an island in Loch Lomond.
We were delighted to welcome a range of HSS Registered Celebrants, and wedding couples from each of the last 10 years. The event was a fantastic celebration of humanism in Scotland, and we were delighted to have as a special guest Scottish Government Minister Marco Biagi.
