Equal opportunities committee recommends equal marriage

The HSS warmly welcomes the 5th report on the Marriage and Civil Partnership Bill (Scotland), in which the committee recommends that Parliament approves the Marriage and Civil Partnership (Scotland) Bill at Stage 1. You can read the full report here.

Ross Wright, HSS spokesman says, “We’re delighted, and we congratulate the Equal Marriage Campaign for all they have done to make Scotland a fairer and more equal society. We anticipate that the bill will move through all the stages by March of next year, and we confidently hope that celebrants of the HSS will be able to conduct legal same-sex marriages from April 2015”.
